About NAVCS

About us
We are members and supporters of veganic farming who fight for the most compassionate and sustainable agricultural practices. These practices seek to minimize the human footprint on our lands, where domesticated animals are not exploited. In equanimity, growing food and fiber for all beings.
NAVCS is a grassroots organization where all members have a voice and will be heard in relation to all aspects of the certification process according to their will. We aspire to be the largest collective of veganic grower voices in North America.

Our hope
We wish to have as members or supporters each and every veganic farmer in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and beyond united under the NAVCS. By working cooperatively with each other, in every state and province, we will have strength in numbers.

Veganic defined
Veganic agriculture is the cultivation and production of food and fiber crops with a minimum amount of exploitation of all animal and plant species. Veganic methods do not use animal products or byproducts, such as blood meal, bone meal, manure, urea, fish meal, fish emulsion, or any other animal-derived materials, because the production of these products specifically harms animals or is related to the exploitation and subsequent suffering of these beings.
Furthermore, while “organic” farming allows the use of organic pesticides and organic fungicides, veganic farming would not allow this, as fumigation greatly upsets the balance of the native flora and fauna of agricultural and gardening systems. Thus, this is the main philosophy of veganic farming: Farm for the benefit of all species.

Why be certified?
A certified inspection inspires confidence in the product. The consumer and the organizations with whom you, as a farmer, would be doing business, will have a clear source of standards that they can read and refer to. Please take a look at our current veganic standard.
