Creating Abundance Through Food Forests

Location: Hébertville-Station, Québec

Operator: Steeve Martel

This project is a community-driven initiative to build abundance by planting fruit trees and edible plants on 2 acres of land as well as in public spaces, private properties, and dedicated community fruit forests. The project aims to increase access to fresh local food while fostering sustainability, veganic agriculture, resilience, and stronger social connections. By integrating diverse fruit species, herbs, vegetables, microgreens, and mushrooms, the initiative seeks to reduce food insecurity and encourage environmentally responsible food production.

Through workshops, volunteer engagement, and partnerships with property owners, the project will empower individuals to grow their own food and share harvests with the community. Our goals include veganic practices, enhancing biodiversity, lowering the community’s carbon footprint, and cultivating a culture of shared responsibility and mutual support. Ultimately, the project positions community fruit forests as a sustainable model for healthier, more self-reliant, and deeply connected communities.
