Virginia Ruguru and her team at Torch Initiatives are promoting plant-based food systems in Kenya to address rising non-communicable diseases, climate pressures, and the expansion of animal agriculture. Since 2024, they have reached over 3000 students in 20+ schools and achieved an estimated media reach of 5 million people through national TV, radio broadcasts, and affiliated media social platforms during the Thrive Africa Vegan Restaurant Week campaign. Donations will help them expand their work, advancing compassionate, sustainable food systems for people, animals, and the planet.
They have engaged in a one-acre veganic gardening project to serve as a community and educational hub to show the benefits of growing using 100% plant-based practices.
