URVARASA – Where Nature & Compassion Meet
The Urvarasa Model Farm, located on one acre of Kolte family land in Pisarve, was revived after six years of lying fallow. Madhavi Kolte and Shivraj established it in 2024 to showcase plant-based, animal-free farming, natural farming; where nature and compassion meet. Soil fertility was restored with organic, plant-based practices. The farm has an ancient well as the main source, and is closely monitored. Despite the dry region, the farm produced high quality wheat and chana (chickpeas). A fruit orchard is being developed and surplus produce will be sold to conscious buyers.
Setting up the food forest will be an important cornerstone, as it will restore the ecosystem, by sequestering carbon, maximizing groundwater retention, increasing biodiversity, and providing access to nutrient-dense, perennial food for all beings.
